Overview: Who Files When

Monthly filings are due on the 20th of each month

• Regardless of year, the six national party committees – RNC, DNC, NRCC, DCCC, NRSC and DSCC.
• State, district and local parties committees that engage in "federal activities."
• In an election year, presidential candidates.
• In a non-election year presidential candidates may choose to file monthly.
• PACs, party committees and 527s always have the option to file monthly.

Quarterly filings are due April 15, July 15, Oct. 15 and Jan. 30 of each year

• Regardless of the year, all House and Senate candidates.
• In a non-election year state, district and local party committees that do not engage in "federal activities" may choose to file quarterly.
• Presidential candidates may choose to file quarterly.
• In an election year PACs and 527s may choose to file quarterly.

Semi-annual filings are due July 31 and Jan. 31 of the following year

• In a non-election year, PACs and 527s may choose to file semiannually.
• Annual filings for the FEC are due Jan. 31.
• All FEC filers must provide year-end report of all their activities that year.

Semi-annual reports are due July 30 and Jan 30 of the following year

• Regardless of year, campaign contributions from lobbyists and lobbying firms

The timing of other annual disclosure forms

• All candidates for federal office must file personal financial disclosure forms with the House clerk and the secretary of the Senate. Congressional incumbent forms are released around June 14 each year.
• The president, vice president, all cabinet officials and presidential candidates must file their personal financial disclosure forms with the Office of Government Ethics. These forms are released on the same day as the congressional incumbent forms.
